ABOUT ME

For Lisa Grove, It’s Not About Numbers, It’s About People
Lisa Grove is a nationally recognized pollster, strategist, and advocate who has spent over two decades helping political candidates, nonprofit organizations, labor unions, and responsible corporations succeed — not by focusing on numbers alone, but by understanding people.
Renowned for her ability to blend rigorous research with emotional intelligence and values-based messaging, Lisa has guided U.S. Senators, Governors, Members of Congress, labor organizations, national nonprofits, Hollywood celebrities, and globally recognized musicians to victories at the ballot box and in the court of public opinion.
Grounded, Visionary, Effective
Lisa Grove combines deep technical expertise with an ability to meet the moment — whether that means helping a candidate win, a community heal, or a movement find its voice. Her life’s work is centered around elevating the voices of real people — especially those often left out of traditional power structures — through rigorous research, strategic storytelling, and values that connect.
An Unmatched Record of Wins
Lisa’s work is known for its accuracy, insight, and humanity. Known as a “code-cracker,” she helped craft the winning values-based messaging that led to major marriage equality victories — helping to coin the phrase “Love is love. It belongs to everybody.” Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight named her one of the most accurate pollsters in America, and she was honored as Pollster of the Year in 2019.
An Experienced Nonprofit Professional
For years, Lisa has provided strategic leadership and operational support to nonprofits during moments of growth and crisis. She has helped with communications, strategic planning, grant writing and grantmaking, leadership recruitment, impact and programmatic assessment, and professional development.
When fires devastated Lahaina on August 8, 2023, Lisa jumped in to help. As communications lead and later Interim Director of Maui United Way, she:
-
Oversaw delivery of $15 million in direct relief to individual fire survivors and local grassroots organizations
-
Directed communications, development, community outreach, and impact
-
Managed staff and consultants, supported internal promotions, and improved technology and infrastructure.
-
Engaged a broad donor base, from first-time givers to foundations and corporate partners.
-
Co-presented disaster equity insights at the 2024 National VOAD Conference
Grove is an avid trail runner and rough water swimmer, getting outside every chance she gets. She calls the small, remote island of Lānaʻi, Hawaiʻi home and is active in her beloved, close-knit community. She also serves on the board of the Hawaii Island Land Trust (HILT), as a Lānaʻi Planning Commissioner, and is a certified substitute teacher who engages high school students in real-world polling projects..
