Lisa Grove
Founder and Principal
Lisa Grove has been the lead strategist and pollster for political candidates, nonprofit organizations, corporations and labor unions for over 20 years. She has a reputation for providing rock-solid research, unique insight (hence the company name), and successful messaging, communications and outreach plans. She is known for fretting the details while never losing sight of the big picture. And she almost always wins.
All told, Lisa has conducted polls and moderated hundreds of focus groups and dial test sessions for Senatorial, Congressional, Gubernatorial and Presidential candidates (including one of her proudest moments, consulting on Cesar Gaviria's successful bid for the Presidency of Colombia in 1990). Advertising agencies, P.R. firms, and Fortune 500 companies have also relied on Grove Insight’s research to develop corporate image campaigns in the United States, Asia and Latin America.
A seasoned public speaker, Lisa has briefed heads of state, U.S. Senators, Hollywood types and the country’s leading policymakers on a wide variety of issues. She has been quoted in publications ranging from the Wall Street Journal to Mother Jones, Oregon's Bend Bulletin to the Washington Post. She has also been a guest lecturer at the Graduate School of Political Management, American University, George Washington University, University of Portland and Carleton College.
Prior to starting her own company, Lisa was Vice President at the Washington, D.C.-based Mellman Group for nine years. Before that, she was a Research Associate at Hill and Knowlton's Research subsidiary, Strategic Information Research Corporation and Belden Opinion Research. A native of the Pacific Northwest, Lisa graduated from Lewis & Clark College in 1984 with degrees in communications and international affairs.
Ever committed to putting her progressive values into action, in 2007, Lisa added a division to Grove Insight devoted to environmental/green market research – Green Insight.
Grove determined early on that outdoor exercise was cheaper than therapy which is why she now lives on the small, remote island of Lana’i, Hawaii. She is an avid mountain biker, trail runner and rough water swimmer, competing in sprint offroad triathlons and getting outside every chance she gets. She loves being a mom of a math whiz and junior pollster named Max and is actively involved in his school and is president of the School Foundation she helped to create.
