Protecting Workers’ Voice in Politics
Grove Insight worked with Oregon unions and the national AFL-CIO to defeat Oregon Ballot Measures 59 (1998), 92 and 98 (2000), all of which would have crippled unions, nonprofit organizations and advocacy groups by restricting members’ ability to contribute money for political action. While we were able to prevent anti-union crusader and racketeer Bill Sizemore from placing another “paycheck deception” measure on the ballot in 2002, he came back in 2006 with a TABOR measure to de-fund state government. Fortunately, we were able to beat this draconian assault on Oregon's critical services - but he is back again this year with another paycheck deception measure. As a result, we are gearing up with our brothers and sisters in the labor movement to defeat this assault on workers’ voices one more time.

Bargaining a Better Contract
Grove Insight has a wealth of experience querying members of public employee unions and membership associations on issues related to contract negotiations. Over the last seven years, our ongoing work with AFSCME Local 328 has helped them pinpoint members’ desired outcomes in relation to bargaining with their employer. Our membership surveys have helped the union negotiate from a place of knowledge and confidence, resulting in beneficial contracts for members.

Understanding Your Membership
Grove Insight has worked with the American Federation of Teachers, Oregon chapter, for nearly 10 years. During this time, we have conducted survey research to help them improve members’ working conditions and learn how the membership feels about various public policy issues. Our work has helped AFT-OR focus its efforts on concerns that are the most pressing to their membership and prioritize communications relating to public policy issues that would affect members.
