Online surveys are a cost-effective tool for organizations, businesses or individuals (elected officials, candidates, etc.), with a constituency you need to query. Provided you have reliable email addresses at which your list can be contacted, an online survey can help you understand your constituency’s attitudes – either toward a specific issue or event, or toward your organization more generally. For example, we’ve used online surveys as a tool for union clients wanting to take the temperature of members regarding negotiations. They’re also a great way for organizations to hear from on-line members about top priorities.
One of the benefits of online surveys is their flexibility. Questions can include pre-coded responses, be open ended, or the questionnaire can contain a combination of both – allowing for rich, thoughtful responses. Additionally, almost anything can be embedded, including images, audio, video, links to websites and more.
Oregon 150's Project 2059 retained Grove Insight to conduct an online survey among Oregon high school students who were interested in participating in their two-day leadership summit. This online survey provided detailed insight into what issues were on the minds of these young Oregonians, and what changes they believed would make Oregon stronger in the future. Our research and analysis helped guide the discussion for Project 2059's two-day summit, and underscored several key analysis points that had been identified in previous in-person interviews with students across the state.
